May Member Meeting

Each month, Oklahoma Behavioral Health Association brings together its Members to discuss current industry trends and news from the organization. OBHA membership meetings are also key opportunities for Members and Partners to network amongst each other, create new business relationships, and stay up to date on developments within their fields. Finally, monthly meetings give Members the chance to meet invited public and private sector leaders, vendors and speakers in a closed, intimate setting. The monthly speaker will be announced prior to each meeting.

Continuing Education credits (1.5 hours) are available for most meetings. Lunch is provided.

Online registration is available to all members and non-members closing each month on the Friday before the meeting.

About our Speaker: Senator AJ Griffin

With strong Oklahoma roots and an educational and professional background in both business and nonprofit work, AJ Griffin brings to the State Senate tremendous insight into some of the most challenging issues facing Oklahoma families to day.

A life-long Oklahoman, AJ Griffin grew up on a family farm in Adair. The child of educators, she graduated from Adair High School then continued her education with a bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University in Hotel and Restaurant Administration. Griffin went on to earn a master’s degree from the University of Central Oklahoma, in human environmental science education. Griffin gained business management experience working in the restaurant industry. She eventually entered education, sharing her professional knowledge by becoming a teacher and hospitality careers instructor, helping others acquire the skills and education needed to launch new careers. Those experiences merged when she began a new career managing non-profit organizations dedicated to improving the lives of Oklahoma children and families.

Her values and interests are reflected in her tremendous volunteer work, community support, and in the honors and awards given to her over the past several years. Griffin has served as chair for the First Christian Church Board, the Guthrie Chamber of Commerce and the Oklahoma Child Abuse Training and Coordination Council. She’s been a member of the Oklahoma Substance Service Alliance, the Oklahoma Association of Youth Services, Oklahoma Sports Museum Board of Directors, Mercy Health Systems Advisory Board for Logan County, and Logan County United Way Board of Directors. She is also a member of the Guthrie Rotary Club and the Chambers of Commerce for Guthrie, Kingfisher, Perry and Pawnee. She is an appointee to the Oklahoma Commission on the Status of Women. Griffin is a member of First Christian Church in Guthrie. 

First elected to the State Senate District 20 seat in 2012, Griffin previously served as Vice Chair of the Senate Republican Caucus and now serves as Chair of the Rural Caucus. She also serves as Chair of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and Human Services. She has been appointed to Co-Chair the OK Conference for the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL). She has worked to write and pass legislation to address Oklahoma’s fastest growing substance abuse issue—prescription drug addiction. She is recognized as a state expert on child abuse and advocates for improves policies to benefit Oklahoma’s children.
